A Good Cry

Hi People

The other day I watched a talented actor, Brad Pitt put up a sterling performance in a strange movie “The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button”. I walked into the show with my wife and sat down to enjoy the movie. But 20 minutes into the show my handphone rang and not wanting to disturb the other patrons I moved out of my seat and out of the cinema to take the call. On my return I found a quiet corner to watch the rest of the show alone.

Just as well. Because I sobbed like a baby. I had ample time to reflect on the theme of the movie, which was about washing away the things people love. More importantly I realise that we are all nearer death with each passing day. I promised myself to put people first, then money, then things ( a line taken from Suze Orman).

Back home the evening news was even more sobering. There were scenes of wildfire burning away whole townships in Australia. Stories of how a father left his family in the car for a brief moment in order to retrieve something from the house, only to return to a burning car watching his whole family incinerated in the vehicle would break any heart.

Must we face a national disaster or a personal devastation before we realise how our loved ones are more precious than things or money? My heart goes out to the dearly departed. As to the living - I resolve to keep building on all my relationships and make up on any strained ones.

Life is curious, isn’t it? God bless.
